Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring with artist Tiffany Shlain
On view through July 4, 2025
Reception with Artist: Saturday, June 21 | 3-5pm
Tiffany Shlain's Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring distills 50,000 years of feminist history into 32 points reframing the typical patriarchal timelines of National Parks, to be a new kind of moveable monument. It has been installed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on view in Madison Square Park in NYC and now will head to the Hamptons before an exhibition in the Midwest.
"At such a pressing time in American politics, the following few artists and organizations are stepping up to guide this delivery of decisive power." ~ Art, Currently
"Trees embody the otherwise ephemeral notion of time, Shlain realized. Now, she reclaims naturally felled specimens to create organic, changeable anti-monuments that are fated to eventually return to the earth. Art Newspaper
