WACH Travels is on the way to South Korea, October 12-25, 2025 and we would love for you to join us! The S(e)oul of Korea: A Cultural Exploration of Korea's Creative Spirit is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that uncovers the layers of Korea's artistic soul. South Korea is a vibrant, thoroughly modern country that honors and maintains its rich cultural heritage. Our tour will explore both contemporary and traditional aspects of The Land of the Morning Calm through art, design, architecture and cuisine.
From the dynamic streets of Seoul to the stunning countryside, we will discover the unexpected and the traditional in this immersive exploration personalized for WACH travelers. Our journey begins in Seoul, the pulse of South Korea with its blend of innovative design districts, historic spaces, and a lively culinary scene. Among the tour highlights will be a visit to the Jongmyo Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site of Korea's oldest royal Confucian shrine, the Seuol Museum of Craft and Art, and the Gyeongbokgung Palace with its centuries-old halls and stunning gardens.
Our group will be the guests of world renowned ceramicist Shin Sang-ho who will talk with us about his creative process and legacy. Our visit also includes a private tour of his extensive grounds and lunch with Shin at one of his favorite barbecue restaurants. Other highlights include a visit to the newly opened Ralph Gibson Museum of Photography in Busan to explore the works of this master American photographer and friend of WACH who resides in Sag Harbor.
With visits to ancient temples, modern design districts, and culinary adventures including a cooking class, this trip offers the rare opportunity to broaden your horizons and experience the richness of world culture - an inspiration we need now more than ever.
WACH Director Wendy Van Deusen will lead the tour with Matko Tomicic, two passionate and engaging world travelers who make each trip fun, immersive, and unforgettable. This experience is more than a trip, it's an opportunity to step out of your familiar surroundings, embrace global culture, and find inspiration in new ways of seeing the world.
Please note there is limited space on this personalized, special interest cultural tour. We already have considerable interest so we encourage you to email us at info@wachamptonsny.org with any questions or to request the tour itinerary and reservation form. Join us for this exciting adventure!
