Edwina Lucas

Edwina Lucas was born and raised on Long Island, New York.  Her mother, a fellow artist, taught her oil painting at a young age and Lucas fell in love with the medium. She studied studio art and art history at Skidmore College. Today, Lucas lives and works in Sag Harbor, New York.  Nature is the driving force behind her work and provides Lucas with endless inspiration.

“My work is about being awake.  It is about living life with your eyes wide open.  It is about noticing everything; from the way the sunlight hits a houseplant to the way an ocean wave can bring you to your knees.  For me, this awareness is meditation.  It is gratitude.  My hope is that my work awakens the viewer to a new way of seeing - one that promotes reflection and stillness.  In this way maybe we can slow down and appreciate it all, just a little bit more.”
