Immediate Connections

Immediate Connections Jewelry Exhibition
August 15-16, 2025 | 12pm-9pm
Featuring Oblik Atelier, Meghan Patrice Riley, and Birabiro

Immediate Connections, the jewelry exhibition and sale is back this year by popular demand!  This exhibition, presented in partnership with NYC Jewelry Week, features pieces by Oblik Atelier, Meghan Patrice Riley, and Birabiro.

Using the drawn line as the foundation for their creations, these three jewelers handcraft their pieces with meticulous care. They produce unique or small limited-edition wearable, sculptural jewelry that is suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions. Their innovative use of wire showcases their ability to transform hard materials into soft, organic shapes.

MPR utilizes signature nylon-coated stainless steel cable wire, blending it with sterling silver, 14k gold fill, and semi-precious stones. Oblik Atelier folds and forms brass and sterling silver wire, while Birabiro works with a variety of materials, including sterling silver and brass wire and semi-precious stones. Each jeweler's distinct approach exemplifies how they masterfully manipulate these materials, bending them to their creative vision.

We invite you to stop in to WACH and view this gorgeous collection of handmade, beautifully crafted jewelry that is easy to wear and enjoy.

About the Artists:

Lydia Gobena, founder of Birabiro
Birabiro was born from the simple idea that jewelry should not merely be worn but should be enjoyed and express the personality of the wearer. Most of Lydia’s pieces are handmade in her studio in East Quogue, where she creates unique, perfectly imperfect designs. In addition to making jewelry out of traditional materials, Lydia also enjoys working with non-traditional materials to create structural, bold and distinctive jewelry pieces. Lydia draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including nature, her travels and her birthplace — Ethiopia.  Many of her product names are derived from Ethiopian names and places. Her work has been exhibited at Milan Jewelry Week and in various galleries.

Mia Hebib, founder of Oblik Atelier
Born in Bosnia, grew up in Croatia and landed in the United States, Mia’s life and her work are grounded in transitions. Her jewelry is defined by polarities of hard and soft. Mia is transforming metal, inherently rigid and hard material, into fluid, graceful, sculptural jewelry and objects. Her hand-crafted pieces, while abstract in nature, draw from observing the shapes around her found in architecture, urban and natural detritus, and human interactions. She is curious about the relationship of what her mind perceives and what her hands can produce. Oblik Atelier is an intimate studio where each piece is produced by Mia, and the work is as much about personal connection as it is about function.“Oblik Atelier” means “form studio” in Croatian, reflecting the conversation around sinuous shapes that conform and compliment the human body

Meghan Patrice Riley, founder of MPR Jewelry
MPR Jewelry is fabricated by hand in Brooklyn, NY from industrial steel cable mixed with fine metals, pearls, and semi-precious stones.  MPR has held solo art gallery shows nationally and internationally as well as having won the prestigious Raphael Founder Prize for innovation in small metals from the Society for Contemporary Craft. Her fashion collections have been presented at NY Fashion Week and China Chengdu Fashion week gaining recognition leading to a semi-finalist position for the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund and finalist participant in the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Design Entrepreneur Program.
